Carl Kasell, a signature voice of NPR News for decades, is stepping down from the comedy news quiz show Wait, Wait ... Don't Tell Me! and retiring from the network this spring. But fans can take solace in knowing that he will continue to record voice-mail greetings for winners on the show even in retirement, notes NPR. Kasell, a newscaster for 30 years on Morning Edition until 2009, began his radio career a half-century ago as a morning deejay and newscaster at WGBR-AM in Goldsboro, NC. He says his years with Wait, Wait have been his favorite ones at NPR because he's been able to meet and talk to the audiences. (More Carl Kasell stories.)
