A wealthy British man asked his ex-wife to stay on as his housekeeper after he moved another woman into the home they shared—and couldn't understand why the offer made his partner of 30 years "so aggressive," a court heard this week. The man, now in his 70s, married the woman in the 1970s and divorced her in the '90s, but the court was told that they carried on living together, treating the divorce as a "bit of paper," until he met the other woman a few years ago, the Telegraph reports.
When the ex-wife was asked to remain as "some sort of housekeeper," she found the suggestion "very demeaning and upsetting," the court heard. She took him to court, and the befuddled husband "could not come to terms with why (the partner), through her lawyers, had become so aggressive." The judge ruled that there was "no distinction" in their lives before and after the divorce and the ex-wife was entitled to half her husband's fortune, a total of around $8 million, London24 reports.
