Fake 'Pollsters' Selling Hillary in Voter Questions

With Super Tuesday fast approaching, at least one campaign appears to be benefiting from so-called "pollsters" who are stumping for their candidate. A pro-Hillary Clinton "push-poll" is asking leading questions of Southern California independent voters whose real purpose appears to be to spread positive information about Clinton, and negative information about everyone else. Los Angeles Times political blogster Andrew Malcolm calls the tactic a "malicious political virus appearing under the guise of an honest poll."

While the Times doesn’t believe the Clinton campaign is directly behind the poll, some benefactor of hers must be. How can a voter spot push-polling? One tip-off is a question like: “If you knew that as a state senator Obama had voted 'present' 43 times instead of taking a stand, would you vote for him?" The Clinton campaign did not respond to email questions about the polling. (More Clinton 2008 stories.)
