The Los Angeles Times takes note of a healthier-eating stat that may not sound like one at first blush: Americans are eating more butter now than at any time over the last 40 years. As in, 5.6 pounds a year per person, up from the low over that span of 4.1 pounds in 1997, according to the American Butter Institute. The story chalks it up to people reverting back to more natural foods and forgoing processed ones such as margarine, which is heavy on trans fats. (More butter stories.)
