You and your New Year's resolution have nothing on a 40-year-old Seattle woman, who not only set a fairly insane goal in advance of Jan. 1, 2013—eat absolutely nothing but food sold at Starbucks for a year—but actually achieved it. The New York Daily News reports that Beautiful Existence (that would be her name) also included "Starbucks-inspired" stores or brand (ie, Tazo Tea and Evolution Fresh) on her OK list, and spent $500 to $600 monthly on Starbucks sandwiches, nuts, teas, and Bistro Boxes. Gawker notes her yearly total is about $4,000 more than the average adult woman spends on groceries in a year.
If one of your first questions is "why the heck would she do this," she has a fairly lengthy answer for you on her blog, part of which reads, "Because I LOVE being human and I LOVE the privilege of being able to ask the question WHY? in the first place!" She has apparently asked "why" before, having bought everything (food and medicine excluded) from Goodwill in 2011, and following all of the advice Parents magazine had to give in 2012. In 2014, she plans to learn every recreational sport there is—roughly 80. And how did she break the Starbucks fast? With fish and chips, which apparently made her taste buds "freak out. ... Starbucks doesn't really have anything that's fried," she notes. (More Starbucks stories.)
