Phil Robertson believes in a traditional definition of marriage: One man, and one teenage girl. Now that Robertson is a famous outrage magnet, his detractors are hunting for more potentially controversial quotes, and they appear to have hit gold with a 2009 clip, now circulating on blogs and social media, in which Robertson opines that good women—meaning those who can cook, carry a Bible, and "pick ducks"—are becoming harder to find. Why?

  • "Mainly because these boys are waiting until they get to be about 20 years old before they marry 'em. Look, you wait until they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that's going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16, they'll pick your ducks."

"You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course," Robertson helpfully adds. He's speaking from experience, Raw Story points out; he began dating his wife Kay when she was 14 and he was 18. He waited until she was 16 to tie the knot.
