Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner was sentenced to 90 days of home confinement, three years probation, and $1,500 in fines today, for unwanted sexual advances he admitted making toward three women, CNN reports. The former mayor pleaded guilty to the gropings and kissings—one of which qualified as a felony—in October, as part of a deal allowing him to avoid jail time. The deal will also bar him from ever seeking public office again.
NBC San Diego describes Filner as "looking fit and relaxed" in court. Before the sentence was passed he read a brief, apologetic statement, vowing to "earn back your trust and my integrity no matter how long it takes. I have already started on that path, and am grateful to all those helping me." His victims declined to offer statements. (More Bob Filner stories.)
