'This Isn't Toronto': Florida Mayor Faces Drug Charges

This might be the unkindest cut of all for residents of Toronto: Now police in Florida of all places are looking down on them thanks to Mayor Rob Ford's many, many troubles. "This isn't Toronto," said Bradford County's sheriff after arresting the mayor of the city of Hampton on drug charges, reports Jacksonville.com. "We will not tolerate illegal drug activity" by anyone, including "elected officials," said Sheriff Gordon Smith. Barry Layne Moore is accused of selling prescription Oxycodone.

Smith elaborated to the Toronto Sun: “I feel sorry for the people of Toronto—it is like something bad happening in the family, it kind of embarrasses the whole family." He called on Ford to resign and said he understood that the city didn't have any way to force him out of office. In Hampton, by contrast, the process is already underway to suspend Moore. (While Toronto's city council can't oust Ford, it has stripped him of most of his powers.)
