A more hilarious and less serious entry on the long list of ObamaCare oopses: A Colorado man says his attempt to sign up for new insurance ended with the receipt of a letter confirming that ... his 14-year-old Yorkie was insured. The culprit, in this instance, was not HealthCare.gov but the Connect for Health Colorado hotline, which Shane Smith called after learning his old plan was canceled under ObamaCare, reports KDVR.
Smith thinks the mix-up must have happened in the course of answering some security questions. "There was some kind of code or something, so I gave them my dog's name," which happens to be Baxter. "They must have just put it in the wrong slot or something," he says, adding that the situation was rectified quickly, "I think." The Colorado healthcare exchange had this to say: "Our system does not make up a name when generating a letter. As with any new system, mistakes are possible and when notified by customers, we work quickly to resolve the situation." (More ObamaCare stories.)
