Before he allegedly shot his 19-month-old daughter and then himself, Merrick McKoy went on Facebook. There were three posts made right before police heard gunshots inside, ABC 7 reports. The first was a photo of the 22-year-old Westminster, Colorado, man holding Mia McKoy. The next two said, "Ima miss stall lol" and "Don't judge me had no choice."
Mia's mother, Kimphone "Kim" Phanthavongsa, 21, called police at 9:35 yesterday morning to say she'd awoken to the sight of McKoy standing over her with a handgun. After an altercation, she fled the apartment and called police from her neighbor's apartment. When police arrived, they heard gunshots and found both man and child inside with gunshot wounds. Mia was pronounced dead at the hospital, but there's still no word on her father's status. Phanthavongsa has a restraining against McKoy; he was arrested on Sept. 27 for a domestic incident involving her, and charged with burglary, assault, trespassing, and telephone harassment.
