George Clooney gives a predictably charming, wide-ranging interview to Esquire, and the best anecdote involves Leonardo DiCaprio. It seems Clooney and DiCaprio both have homes in Cabo, and once ran into each other there. They got to talking about their respective, semi-famous ongoing basketball games and decided to play against each other. "You know, we're pretty serious," DiCaprio warned Clooney. Surely you see where this is going.
Clooney and his dudes showed up at the neighborhood court for the game, "and the thing about playing Leo is you have all these guys talking s---," Clooney says, after explaining that in basketball, "You don't talk s--- unless you can play," which he—Clooney—can. Obviously. Some "club kid from New York," whom Clooney is pretty sure was named "Danny A," claimed to have once played Clooney and kicked his you-know-what; Clooney shot that story right down. Then, of course, the game began and ... well, we'll let Clooney take it from there: "They can’t play at all. We’re all like 50 years old, and we beat them three straight: 11–0, 11–0, 11–0." The whole interview is worth a read. (More George Clooney stories.)
