Toronto Mayor Rob Ford just got some very bad news: Police say they've finally got their hands on a notorious video that purports to show him smoking crack, reports the Toronto Star. Or as the police chief puts it, “The video files depict images that are consistent with what has previously been reported." He added that he's "disappointed," although the AP reports that it doesn't appear that Ford will face any charges as a result.
News of the video first surfaced in May, when those in possession of it showed it to reporters from Gawker and the Star. The video was reportedly being shopped around for six figures, but it soon disappeared, and Ford denied all the allegations. Police then launched an investigation that included surveillance of Ford and his friend, alleged drug dealer Alexander Lisi, and the video turned up in the course of that investigation. Unlike Ford, Lisi faces drug and extortion charges. It's possible the public will get a look at the video during his trial. (More Toronto stories.)
