A runner in Saturday's Kansas City Marathon broke a Guinness world record ... but it wasn't for speed or distance. No, David Babcock broke the record for the longest scarf knitted while running a marathon, with a length of 12 feet and 13/4 inches, the Kansas City Star reports. The previous record was 6 foot, 9 inch, knitted at the London Marathon. Babcock, 41, ran the marathon in 5 hours, 48 minutes and 27 seconds. So, er, why? "It took a long time to do distance running. It takes a long time to do knitting. I thought these could go together. They are both kind of tedious. I thought it would be a fun challenge," he told KCTV. (More knitting stories.)
