A sad end for a young chef who finished second on reality show MasterChef: Joshua Marks, 26, was found shot to death in a Chicago alley last night in what authorities say is an apparent suicide. The death comes three months after the 7-foot-2 Marks got arrested for assaulting a city officer while claiming to be possessed by MasterChef host Gordon Ramsay, reports the Chicago Tribune. It took several officers to get Marks under control in that incident, during which he reportedly tried to take an officer's gun.
"Just heard the devastating news about Josh Marks," Ramsay tweeted today. "My thoughts are with his family & friends at this tragic time." Marks had publicly acknowledged that he suffered from bipolar disorder in a public-service announcement video, reports CNN. "So, you know, I'll get a little anxious sometimes, and how I cool out is, I listen to music and just listen to the words and just relax and, you know, find my melody," he said at the time. A relative told police last night at the scene that Marks also suffered from schizophrenia. He finished as runner-up on the third season of the reality show. (More MasterChef stories.)
