If your wine of choice is Sauvignon Blanc rather than Cabernet Sauvignon, watch out: A new study shows you're likely to serve yourself more generously. Iowa State University and Cornell researchers had study participants pour a "normal" glass of wine into a clear glass. (Normal, by the way, is technically 5 ounces.) And it turns out that when dispensing white, they filled their glass with 9.2% more wine than when pouring red, reports the Telegraph. And that's not the only case in which they poured a little more freely.

Wider glasses were filled with 11.9% more wine, and participants holding the glasses (rather than pouring into one sitting on a table) ended up adding an extra 12.2%. Add all those extras up, and your "glass" of wine could be more like two glasses. But maybe winos like it that way? ISU professor Laura Smarandescu tells the Des Moines Register that even after being told they were over-pouring, they continued to over-pour. For those who do care about drinking too much, she offers some tips: Set your tall glass onto the table before filling it, and fill it with red.
