Newsy was very, very close to picking the new SNL cast members, but now the actual lineup has been officially announced, and there's a sixth name to add to the mix plus some other shake-ups. Per E! Online, the new cast members will be Beck Bennett (you know him from those annoying AT&T ads with the little kids), comedian Kyle Mooney, Mike O’Brien (who has been an SNL writer since 2009), Noel Wells (best known for lampooning Zooey Deschanel on YouTube), improv artist John Milhiser, and CollegeHumor writer Brooks Whelan.
In an interview with the New York Times, show creator Lorne Michaels also revealed that Cecily Strong (aka the Girl You Wished You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party) will join Seth Meyers as a co-anchor on the "Weekend Update" desk. She might take over completely when Meyers moves to Late Night. And finally, newcomer Tim Robinson, who joined the cast last year, is moving to the writing staff. (More Saturday Night Live stories.)
