Sure, as a political columnist, it's Roger Simon's job to have opinions—but on an issue as complex as a potential Syria strike, he just can't seem to make up his mind. So he's offering both sides of the story in Politico: There's "decent" and "sincere" Good Roger, who wants to "smite Syria swiftly, but prudently," believing "the United States must act to stop the slaughter of the innocent." Then there's "cynical" and "sarcastic" Bad Roger, who wonders if his Good counterpart is "talking about that 1-year-old boy shot to death in his stroller in Brooklyn on Sunday night."
"We can kill Syrians to keep them from killing other Syrians!" notes Good Roger, reminding Bad to "'Speak softly and carry a big stick.'" "But (Teddy Roosevelt) didn’t say take your big stick to Congress, where it can be whittled down to 535 little sticks with pointy heads to match the pointy heads of our legislators," Bad Roger retorts, adding, "In Libya, Obama led from behind. In Syria, Obama is letting a bunch of behinds lead him." Click for Simon's full column. (More Syria stories.)
