Rule No. 1 of politics: Know your audience. If, for example, you're at a debate hosted by the AARP, you should probably avoid calling your opponent "grandpa." But that's what Anthony Weiner did yesterday, when Republican rival George McDonald, 69, took offense to Weiner patting him on the chest in greeting in advance of the event. "Don't put your hands on me ever again," McDonald admonished him.
"Really? What's going to happen if I do?" Weiner shot back. "You're a tough guy now?" McDonald said he could defend himself, and Weiner made a crack about McDonald's "anger issues." "I don't have any anger issues," McDonald said. "But you do, grandpa," Weiner replied. The entire exchange might have flown under the radar, if NY1's cameras hadn't caught it.
