Gunman Storms Town Meeting, Kills 3

Three people are dead and several others injured after a shooting in northeastern Pennsylvania, according to state police, who initially said the death toll was four. The emergency management director in Monroe County says the shooting happened at a municipal building during the town's monthly meeting, the AP reports. The alleged gunman shot through a wall with a pistol with a scope before barging into the meeting room to keep shooting, according to a Pocono Record reporter who was at the meeting.

The reporter says that a town official tackled the man and then shot him with his own gun. The suspect, who police say had a long-running dispute with town officials over possible condemnation of his property, was released into police custody after being treated in the hospital.
