As many as 10 men were allegedly part of the brutal gang-rape of a 13-year-old girl in Austin, Texas, which was filmed using cellphones—and a cellphone may have led to two men's arrests. Their arrest affidavit explains that the girl had run away from a home for abused and neglected children when she was picked up by three men and driven to a nearby apartment, reports the AP. "All of the other males took turns having sex with victim against her will, which lasted through the early morning hours," it reads. Sickening detail: The men allegedly cheered throughout the attack.
Police say the girl was dropped off and told to "find somewhere to go"; court documents explain that one of the alleged attackers let her use his cellphone to call her foster brother—a call that registered on the boy's caller ID—before she made her own way back to the Settlement Home for Children and was taken to hospital, KEYE TV reports. Investigators used the number to find Juan Ortega and Edgar Perez, who were charged Wednesday with aggravated sexual assault of a child in the June 29 assault and are each being held on a $30,000 bond.
