Investigators fear that one of the two teenage girls from China killed in Saturday's San Francisco plane crash may have survived the impact only to be fatally run over by a fire rig, reports Reuters. The 16-year-old did not suffer extensive burns but has injuries consistent with being run over, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of the teen, who, like the other fatality, was on her way to summer camp.
Witnesses described scenes of chaos as emergency vehicles scrambled to help passengers after the Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 smashed into the runway. "Based on the injuries sustained, it could have been one of our vehicles that added to the injuries, or another vehicle," San Francisco's fire chief says. "That could have been something that happened in the chaos. It will be part of our investigation." The county coroner says the other girl killed in the crash appears to have been fatally injured when the tail of the plane hit the runway. (More Asiana Airlines stories.)
