The latest search for Jimmy Hoffa's body turned up nothing, and that's exactly what any future searches will turn up, too, a law enforcement source tells DNAinfo ... because the Teamster boss's body was put through a Michigan wood chipper, and there's nothing left of it, the source says. Hoffa was first strangled by New York mobster and Hoffa rival Anthony "Tony Pro" Provenzano, according to the source, who was close to the 1975 investigation into Hoffa's disappearance.
The source explains how things went down: Provenzano didn't want Hoffa, fresh out of prison, to retake control of the Teamsters, so he orchestrated a meeting between Hoffa and his "adopted" son at a restaurant outside Detroit. Provenzano and another mafia honcho were in the back seat of the car Hoffa climbed into, and Hoffa was garroted from behind. The killers then drove another 16 miles to Inkster, Michigan, where they did the gruesome deed. DNAInfo shares one fact that give a whiff of credence to the story: A 2000 FBI test on a strand of hair found in the 1975 Mercury Marquis Brougham the source says Hoffa was killed in belonged to ... Hoffa. (More Jimmy Hoffa stories.)
