The cautious and solid play that has kept the Avalanche from being swept away after the loss of three key forwards paid off again, this time with a 3-1 victory over Columbus. Jose Theodore kept the Blue Jackets scoreless through two periods, giving his offense plenty of time to rack up their goals, says the Rocky Mountain News.

"You can sense the confidence that he has, and the guys in front of him are responding," explained coach Joel Quenneville. Last night Jeff Finger, Ben Guite and Tyler Arnason all responded with one goal per period, with Finger getting his in behind a tricky screen by Ian Laperriere. The Avalanche now sits atop the Northwest Division after a 4-0-1 run. (More Colorado Avalanche stories.)
