Today's entry in the Things You Never Thought to Research category: In a new study, women who were wearing red or pink were more likely to be at the peak of their fertility cycles than those wearing other colors. And not just a little bit more likely, but three times more likely, LiveScience reports. Researchers asked 124 women ages 18 to 47 about their shirt colors and the timing of their last periods in order to come by the results.
Why red? Researchers posit that, much like certain animals who put on displays during fertile periods in order to attract mates, wearing red clothing could be an attempt to attract attention—be it conscious or subconscious. But before anyone hauls out that little red dress, researchers say that more study is needed. (More fertility stories.)
