A sad ending to the story of the first woman to get pregnant with a transplanted donor womb: Derya Sert has had the pregnancy terminated, according to the Akdeniz University Hospital. The Turkish woman's eight-week pregnancy was terminated because the fetal heartbeat had stopped. Sert, who was born without a womb and had one transplanted in August 2011, became pregnant after doctors placed an embryo into her womb, using one of her own eggs. The 22-year-old will receive new fertilization treatment to try and get pregnant again, the hospital says. (More womb stories.)
