Cleveland Suspect's Son Wrote Article About Captive

A strange twist in the Cleveland kidnapping: Ariel Castro—the man arrested yesterday after three women kidnapped a decade ago escaped his home—has a son of the same name who wrote a 2004 newspaper article about the disappearance of one of those women, Gina DeJesus. The younger Ariel Castro—who goes by Anthony and was a journalism student at the time—tells WKYC, "This is beyond comprehension... I'm truly stunned right now."

Anthony Castro appears to have interviewed DeJesus' mom for the story, which is here, and Ariel Castro's uncle, Julio Castro, told CNN that his family knew the DeJesus family and lived in the same Cleveland neighborhood. "Shame on you," he says of his three nephews. Other sources confirm that Gina DeJesus knew Ariel Castro, and say her best friend may have been his daughter. DeJesus was found along with Michelle Knight after a third captive, Amanda Berry, escaped Ariel Castro's home and called 911.
