Add LivingSocial to the list of high-profile hacking victims. The online coupon site says hackers got access to the names, emails, birthdays, and encrypted passwords of 50 million customers around the world, reports AllThingsD. The good news is that the hackers did not get any credit card or banking information. Customers affected will be getting an email telling them to change their password, reports USA Today. LivingSocial is partially owned by Amazon, and Reuters says it's second only to Groupon in the "daily deal" business.
"We recently experienced a cyber-attack on our computer systems that resulted in unauthorized access to some customer data from our servers," says the email going out to affected customers. "We are actively working with law enforcement to investigate this issue." (More LivingSocial stories.)
