Thirteen female corrections officers have been accused of helping the Black Guerilla Family gang run a drug trafficking operation inside a Baltimore jail—and having sex with the inmates running the operation—according to an indictment unsealed yesterday. The gang's leader, Tavon White, has allegedly fathered five children with four of the accused guards since being locked up on an attempted-murder charge in 2009, the Washington Post reports, and two of those guards have gotten tattoos of his name. "The inmates literally took over," an FBI agent said of the Baltimore City Detention Center.

White allegedly bragged that he made at least $16,000 a month by charging his fellow inmates exorbitant prices for drugs. Some of that money was allegedly used to buy luxury cars—which the complicit guards were permitted to drive; the Baltimore Sun reports that one officer was given a diamond ring. "This is my jail. You understand that?" White said in a wiretapped phone call. "I'm dead serious. I make every final call in this jail." A total of 25 people are charged in the indictment, which also includes inmates and outside drug suppliers. (More Baltimore stories.)
