Looks like Justin Bieber's monkey might be staying in Germany permanently. Bieber still hasn't produced the required paperwork for Mally since customs authorities seized the 17-week-old capuchin monkey in March, and a customs spokesperson says Mally will remain in the Munich Animal Protection League shelter until they hear from either Bieber or someone with his power of attorney, or until May 17 (at which point the monkey becomes Germany's property), whichever comes first. In emails sent to the shelter, Bieber appears to not have any interest in re-acquiring his monkey, the AP reports.

The first email—which hasn't been confirmed as coming from Bieber's management company, but "appear[s] to be" legit, according to a shelter spokesperson—asks how long Bieber has to provide the papers before Mally is euthanized. Informed that the monkey would not be euthanized, a second email says, "Our team is looking into the idea of placing Mally at a zoo in Germany. ... We are very concerned that Mally is safe and placed in the best possible residence." A rep from the shelter tells E! they would prefer to place Mally in a rescue, not a zoo. And if you're not already angry enough at Bieber, the Daily Mail has this tidbit: The baby monkey makes constant "heartbreaking" calls, looking for other members of its family group.
