Reuters' deputy social media editor wasn't the only media worker to announce he was fired today: Newbie TV anchor AJ Clemente has been let go from North Dakota NBC affiliate KFYR-TV after opening his first-ever broadcast with several profanities, CBS reports. "That couldn't have gone any worse!" he tweeted after the show, later adding: "Rookie mistake. I'm a free agent.Cant help but laugh at myself and stay positive.Wish i didnt trip over my 'Freaking Shoes' out of the gate."
Video of the broadcast quickly spread through social media, along with the hastag #KeepAJ. The network issued an apology via Facebook, stating: "He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that's no excuse. WE train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case."
