Czech Republic: We're Not Chechnya

A quick geography lesson: The Chechen Republic is a subject of Russia in southeastern Europe; the Czech Republic is a nation about 2,000 miles away in central Europe. The Czech ambassador to the US has issued a statement explaining the difference after a surprising number of social media users confused his country with that of the Boston bombing suspects' place of birth (or close to it anyway), reports the AP.

"As more information on the origin of the alleged perpetrators is coming to light, I am concerned to note in the social media a most unfortunate misunderstanding in this respect," Ambassador Petr Gandalovic said in a statement on the embassy's website.
