Chick-fil-A Owner Treats Gay Marriage Rally to Meal

A group of California gay marriage supporters got a pleasant surprise on Monday, in the form of free meal tickets from a fast food chain many had probably regarded as the enemy. Local Chick-fil-A franchise owner Corey Braun says he handed out the coupons to promote a message of tolerance. "There were a lot of things said over the past year," he tells the LA Daily News . "I wanted to show that Chick-fil-A doesn't discriminate against anybody. We serve everyone."

When Braun showed up at the rally, organizers even handed him the microphone. "We got quiet and we were listening, and with some skepticism," says a board member of a local LGBT group. But "when people are open and apologetic and accepting, it's touching to us. It feels like acceptance, and we just want to be accepted." (More California stories.)
