When President Obama met Jimmy Carter's grandson last week—the guy reportedly behind the infamous Mitt Romney "47%" tape—the president "ran across the room, embraced him and thanked him profusely for his time," the elder Carter told CNN's Piers Morgan, per Politico. "I don’t think he said 'winning the election,' but 'thank you for helping me with the election.'"
But did James Carter IV—who made the tape from available to Mother Jones—really win Obama the election? "I think so," said Carter, laughing. The tape "was something (Romney) could not deny and it stuck with him for the rest of the election and I think it was a major factor, if not the major factor," in the outcome.
