Scott Brown's political bombshell that he will not run for Senate has Massachusetts Republicans scrambling to find a replacement. Which is why the Boston Herald today floats the inevitable speculation: What about a Romney? And no, not that Romney. Try Ann or son Tagg. The story says some top Republicans—it's a little skimpy on specifics—are at least entertaining the possibility.
“I’ve had several people call me and ask about Ann Romney,” says Ron Kaufman, a longtime aide to Mitt. The Herald runs the possibility by House minority leader Bradley Jones: “That would be a very interesting thing," he says. "I would certainly love her to think about something like that." Of course, a blogger at the liberal Daily Kos would love Mitt himself to run. If no Romney emerges, however, former Gov. William Weld might be the top contender. (More Ann Romney stories.)
