There are wacky GPS mistakes and then there are tragic ones. A Georgia man died after being shot in the head Saturday night after his GPS reportedly directed him to the wrong house. WSBTV reports that Rodrigo Abad Diaz, 22, was driving three passengers to a friend's house, where they were to pick up a girl before going ice skating. Friends say the GPS sent Diaz to the home of Phillip Walker Sailors. As they waited in the driveway, the 69-year-old came out of the house, went back in, then returned, toting a handgun, which he fired into the air.
They quickly tried to leave, but Sailors fired at the car, hitting Diaz on the left side of his head, and then trained his gun on the passengers, holding the three high school students until police arrived. Sailors' lawyers says the war vet "is very distraught over the loss of life from the defense of his home. This incident happened late in the evening hours when he was home with his wife and he assumed it was a home invasion and he maintains his innocence." But one of the passengers says Sailors never asked why they were there. "'Shut up.' That's the only thing that came out of his mouth." (More GPS stories.)
