The first clip from the Steve Jobs movie jOBS came out this week, and one of the main players isn't too happy. Steve Wozniak complains to Gizmodo that the clip (with Ashton Kutcher as Jobs) isn't accurate. Here's a sample:
- In a comment on the website: "Not close...we never had such interaction and roles...I'm not even sure what it's getting at...personalities are very wrong although mine is closer..."
- In a later email: At the time of the scene, Jobs was more concerned about making a "quick buck" than having computers transform the world. The "lofty talk" came much later. Also: "I never looked like a professional. We were both kids. Our relationship was so different than what was portrayed. I'm embarrassed but if the movie is fun and entertaining, all the better. Anyone who reads my book iWoz can get a clearer picture."
- And another email: "It's only one clip. The movie should be very popular and I hope it's entertaining. It may be very correct, as well. This is only one clip. But you'll see the direction they are slanting the movie in, just by the dialog style of this script."
A publicist for the movie tells
Entertainment Weekly that it's "not a documentary, nor is it meant to be a blow by blow, word for word account." The film is out April 19. A second Jobs film, being written by Aaron Sorkin (
