Erika Menendez, the woman accused of pushing Sunando Sen to his death in the New York City subway, attacked a corrections officer Monday evening while in a hospital emergency room, reports the New York Times. Menendez had been brought to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, and the assault was apparently brought on by a TV news report on her case that happened to be playing in the room. "She pulled the officer’s hair and, in the process, hit her face," said a second corrections official.
Menendez was handcuffed at the time and was quickly subdued by the second officer. The officer who was attacked was not injured. Click to read more about Menendez's history of attacks. (More Erika Menendez stories.)
