Just what the fiscal cliff needed: more chaos and drama. House Republicans called off tonight's vote on John Boehner's Plan B legislation because he didn't have the support to pass it from within his own party, reports the Hill. The bill, which would have extended the Bush-era tax cuts for everyone except millionaires, was going nowhere in the Senate anyway, but Boehner's inability to get it through is a "major setback" for the speaker, reports the New York Times.
“The House did not take up the tax measure today because it did not have sufficient support from our members to pass,” Boehner said in a statement. “Now it is up to the president to work with Senator Reid on legislation to avert the fiscal cliff.” (More John Boehner stories.)
