The saga of Madeleine McCann's disappearance may wind up on the big screen: Her family is in talks with a film studio, the Guardian reports. A McCann spokesman says proceeds from any deal would replenish the $2.3 million fund that finances an investigative team on a nearly $100,000 monthly retainer and buys widespread advertising.

"We have had a preliminary meeting with some producers and directors from IMG with a view to discussing an idea for a film," said the family spokesman. "We've not agreed anything, we're not about to sign anything." He added that several proposals were on the table. He estimated that the Maddy fund wouldn't last the year without an infusion of funds.
