In an apparent effort to ensure that no one ever leaves a Facebook tab open in their browser ever again, Facebook has started testing a new "feature" in which the site emits a helpful beeping sound every time you get a notification. A select few lucky users are already being subjected to, er, we mean being treated to this feature, including Sean Ludwig of VentureBeat. "We hate it already," he writes. "Thankfully, it's easy to turn off" via an option in the notifications menu.

Of course, some users who don't get notifications often may actually like the feature. A Facebook executive notes that it's "currently just a test." (More Facebook stories.)
