Lewis Wallace finds Star Wars fans' lack of faith disturbing. Many have been panicking about Disney's $4 billion purchase of Lucasfilm, envisioning more disasters like Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks, but Wallace doesn't think they need to worry, for one simple reason: "Disney knows how to make good movies, and how to handle a franchise," he writes in Wired. This could be "a direct shot down the Death Star's exhaust port."
After all, Disney "did not ruin the magic" for Marvel's smash hit The Avengers, and unlike Marvel, the Star Wars franchise could use some "corrective surgery" to fix "10 years of bad lifestyle choices." Anyone who saw Attack of the Clones knows it was time for George Lucas to step aside. With new blood, "Star Wars can once again take us to a world we’ve never seen before, filled with characters that surprise and intrigue. ...
