Sometimes you gotta get tough with stubborn New Jersey folks. So officials from the National Weather Service were a tad gruesome in their warning to residents to get out of low-lying areas now before Hurricane Sandy hits, reports BuzzFeed. After running down a list of reasons it makes no sense to stay, and warning that "all areas will have significant impacts," the Weather Service's statement adds: "Think about the teams who will rescue you if you are injured, or recover your remains if you do not survive."
The storm is expected to hit the East Coast later today, and hundreds of thousands of people have been ordered to evacuate in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Delaware. Airlines have cancelled close to 5,000 flights in the area. Low-lying airports, including La Guardia and JFK, are expected to be hard hit by flooding when the storm strikes, particularly because tides are already high during the full moon, notes the Wall Street Journal.
