White House hopeful Dennis Kucinich has gained Willie Nelson’s support in his federal lawsuit to get on the Texas primary ballot. The Ohio congressman wasn’t having any of the Texas application’s pledge to support the eventual Dem nominee—so he scratched it out. Now Nelson has joined up Kucinich's challenge of the ensuing snub, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The “Crazy” songsmith, who also supported Kucinich in 2004, said the vegan candidate was “right to challenge a blind loyalty oath to the Democratic Party because it's un-American.” For its part, the state party says the pledge requirement dates to 1976 and points out Kucinich signed it in 2003. A federal judge will hear arguments (and “Night Life”?) next week.
