Good news for Mitt Romney out of the battleground state of Florida: After endorsing President Obama in 2008, the Orlando Sentinel is backing Romney this time around, CNN reports. Its reasons: "anemic" economic growth and the increasing poverty rate. "We have little confidence that Obama would be more successful managing the economy and the budget in the next four years," the endorsement reads.
Even so, it bluntly states that "Romney is not our ideal candidate for the president," citing his social conservatism and stance on immigration. "But the core of Romney's campaign platform, his five-point plan, at least shows he understands that reviving the economy and repairing the government's balance sheet are imperative—now, not four years in the future." The paper pulled a similar switcheroo in 2004, when it endorsed John Kerry after supporting George W. Bush in 2000. (More Florida stories.)
