In a conference call earlier this year Mitt Romney urged small-business owners to tell their employees how to vote. "I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future," Romney can be heard saying in a recording of the June call, which was spotted yesterday by In These Times. "Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business."
The comments come at the tail end of a video that has been online for months on the conservative National Federation for Independent Business's site. Romney does urge CEOs to share their views with their workers "whether you agree with me or President Obama." A number of CEOs have already made headlines for urging their workers to vote for Romney, exhortations that some law experts say would have been illegal before the Citizens United decision.
