Two days ago, it was above 80 degrees in Denver. When residents woke up today, it was snowing. The swing from high to low temperatures accentuates the weirdness of such an early snowfall; in an average year, Denver's first snowfall would still be two weeks in the future, KWGN reports. The snow is expected to resume this evening, with temperatures falling as low as 27 degrees.
Radiant heat from those earlier week highs has prevented roads from icing over, but the snow could still reduce visibility, and public work crews are keeping an eye on conditions just in case, the Denver Post reports. Sadly, there isn't even any upside for skiers here—the mountains are expected to see little snow. (More Denver stories.)
