A 'Disaster' for Obama?

Here are three quick analyses of tonight's debate that should send Mitt Romney to bed with a smile on his face.

  • "Look: you know how much I love the guy," Andrew Sullivan writes of President Obama at the Daily Beast. "And I can see the logic of some of Obama's meandering, weak, professorial arguments. But this was a disaster for the president for the key people he needs to reach, and his effete, wonkish lectures may have jolted a lot of independents into giving Romney a second look." He looked "bored."

  • "Mitt Romney stood and delivered the best debate performance by a Republican presidential candidate in more than two decades," writes William Kristol at the Weekly Standard. The question is, can he do something with this momentum?
  • “It looked like Mitt Romney wanted to be there and President Obama didn’t want to be there,” Democratic strategist James Carville said on CNN, reports Talking Points Memo. Obama didn't have his “A game.”
