Pro-marijuana activists have scored a major victory in LA, where the city council has repealed its ban on pot dispensaries. The council voted 11-2 to send the ban up in smoke after a plea from Councilman Bill Rosendahl, a medical marijuana user with a rare form of cancer, reports the Los Angeles Times. "Where does anybody go, even a councilman go, to get his medical marijuana?" he asked. Last month, opponents of the ban gathered enough signatures to put the issue on the ballot. The council's move will allow the city's estimated 1,000 dispensaries to stay in business, although opponents plan to seek other ways to close them down. (More Los Angeles stories.)
