The first Dark Knight lawsuits have arrived: Three of the survivors of the shooting spree sued the theater yesterday and accused it of weak security, reports the Denver Post. The two lawsuits say the Aurora cinema had no security guards on duty for the midnight Friday showing, despite a history of incidents there. They also complain that the back door through which James Holmes gained entry had no alarm. Owner Cinemark didn't comment.
"The lawsuit is based upon Cinemark's failure to provide for the safety and security of its theater and its patrons," says an attorney representing all three survivors. "Readily available security procedures, security equipment and security personnel would likely have prevented or deterred the gunman from accomplishing his planned assault."
