Rage over an anti-Islamic video reignited today as hundreds of angry Pakistanis battled police outside the US consulate in Karachi, leaving one protester dead and 18 others injured, the AP reports. Police fired tear gas and water cannons at the rock-throwing protesters and eventually beat them back with batons. A group linked to the 2008 attacks on Mumbai, India, apparently organized the crowd. "Our war will continue until America is destroyed!" shouted some. "Dog, dog, America is a dog!"
Meanwhile, the head of Hezbollah in Lebanon called for more demonstrations to "express our anger" at American embassies and pressure Arab leaders to take action. "The ones who should be held accountable and boycotted are those who support and protect the producers, namely the US administration," said Sheik Hassan Nasrallah in a televised address. He urged people to protest on every day this coming week except Tuesday and Thursday. (More Pakistan stories.)
